CHILDREN PARLIAMENT

Vision

A world where every child’s voice is heard and respected, and their ideas and concerns shape a brighter future for all

Mission

Empower children to actively participate in decision-making processes, advocate for their rights, duties, and collaborate with people to create inclusive and sustainable solutions for a better society.

Neighborhood Units

  • Children are organized into smaller groups within their neighborhoods, typically consisting of around 30 members.
  • These smaller units serve as the foundation for the overall structure, allowing for more localized representation and engagement.

Federation as Sociocratic Units

  • The neighborhood units come together to form a federation, creating a sociocratic system where decisions are made collectively with an emphasis on equal participation.
  • The federated structure allows for coordination and collaboration between different neighborhood units.

Advocating for Rights, Values, and Duties

  • The primary purpose of the children’s parliament is to empower young individuals to advocate for their rights, express their values, and understand their duties as active members of society.
  • Discussions within the parliament may revolve around issues affecting children, such as education, safety, health, and overall well-being.

Participatory Decision-Making

  • The parliamentary system encourages participatory decision-making, where children have the opportunity to voice their opinions, propose ideas, and contribute to the decision-making process.
  • This fosters a sense of responsibility and ownership among the children regarding the issues that directly impact their lives.

Educational and Developmental Focus

  • The children’s parliament serves as an educational platform, helping participants develop essential skills such as communication, critical thinking, and leadership.
  • It also provides a space for children to learn about civic responsibilities, democratic principles, and the importance of community engagement.

Implementation of Sociocratic Principles

  • Sociocratic principles, emphasizing consent-based decision-making and equitable distribution of power, are integrated into the functioning of the children’s parliament.
  • This ensures that each child’s voice is valued, and decisions are made through a collaborative and inclusive process.
